Wine, the iconic industry of Yantai in East China's Shandong province, is empowering local high-quality development.
Located at 37 degrees north latitude, Yantai, with its abundant sunshine averaging 2,600 hours annually, mineral-rich gravelly soil, and mild maritime climate, has become an ideal region for grape cultivation.
As the birthplace of China's wine industry, Yantai now boasts 63 distinctive wineries, forming a complete industry chain integrating planting, brewing, cultural tourism, and research.
After over a century of development, Yantai's wines are exported to over 70 countries. Homegrown brands like Changyu and Long Dai have firmly established themselves in the European market. Prestigious wine review institutions such as France's Bettane & Desseauve and Spain's Guía Peñín have shown the excellence of Yantai's wines to the world.
Currently, Yantai's wine industry and cultural tourism sector are being closely integrated. Since Changyu pioneered China's enotourism, a complete consumption chain encompassing winery landscapes, wine tasting, accommodation, study tours, and shopping has been established, attracting 3 million visitors annually.
In July this year, the 2025 Global Wine Tourism Summit will be held in Yantai. This marks the first time a Chinese production area has hosted such an international event, which is expected to attract over 300 representatives from 20 countries. Yantai is ready to showcase the unique charm of its Eastern culture to the world.
