The city of Dongying — located in East China's Shandong province — marked a new milestone in its cultural tourism on July 1 with the launch of the Taishan–Yellow River tourism train, part of the Qilu No 1 tourism train.
The initiative aims to boost integration with Shandong's provincial tourism network — linking iconic natural and cultural landmarks while increasing regional tourism consumption.
The train connects Dongying with major destinations — including Mount Tai in Taian and the famed spring scenery of Jinan — creating a scenic route that highlights the province's unique blend of mountains, rivers and coastline.
By bridging diverse landscapes and cultural assets, the route is said to deliver a seamless travel experience and promotes coordinated regional development.
Operated by the China Railway Jinan Group, the Taishan–Yellow River train runs daily. Outbound train Y746/7 departs Dongying Station at 3:43 pm and arrives in Taishan Station at 8:58 pm, stopping at Huantai, Nanqiu, Yuanqian and Laiwu East stations.
Return train Y742/3 leaves Taishan Station at 8:52 am and reaches Dongying at 2:43 pm, passing through Laiwu East, Yuanqian, Nanqiu, Huantai and Boxing stations.
The launch event, held at Dongying Railway Station, featured cultural performances, tourism product displays and the appointment of popular online travel influencers as Dongying tourism ambassadors.
The new service is said to not only enhance the visitor experience, but also reflects Dongying's commitment to becoming a gateway between inland heritage and coastal vitality — strengthening the region's position as a key node in Shandong's evolving tourism landscape.
